2014 - A Snapshot So Far

*This post looks like a baboon's bum when viewed on mobile due to images - best viewed on your desktop!*

How has your 2014 been so far? Are you getting a handle on what sort of year you're going to have yet? I've been hoping for a peaceful and steady one with plenty of happiness and a little predictability;  I'm not yet convinced it's going to be that way but gimme a few more weeks to assess and I'll get back to you (you know I will!).

I recently read a post by the fabulous Styling You who completed the list below and invited her readers to do the same, so I thought I'd give it a go. If you're into it, why not try it yourself?  Thanks also to Pip from Meet Me At Mikes for the original inspiration - it was fun and thought-provoking.

So far in 2014, I'm:

Making: Raspberry jelly. Today's request has been reluctantly granted.

Cooking: Lamb cutlets , minted pea mash and kipfler potatoes (followed by jelly and ice cream, obviously).

Drinking: A nice little dry ginger ale with ice and lemon. It's my thing in place of alcohol, yo.

Reading: Lots of blogs. Other bloggers have been teaching me so much about the craft lately.

Wanting: Things to be more straightforward and steady this year.

Looking: Forward to watching my youngest embark on her first year of school. Bring it!

Playing: Barbies. And Uno Moo. A lot. (My head hurts).

Deciding: How to put my best foot forward in everything I do this year.

Wishing: (Apart from world peace) that @MrsWoog would follow my blog!

Enjoying: These holidays more than previous summer breaks. It seems my kids might actually be growing up..?

Waiting: For the mayhem of the school year to commence.

Liking: The lack of school lunch responsibilities.

Wondering: How the hell I'm going to get back into the school lunch responsibilities for another year.

Loving: Exercise for the first time in my life. Sorry - what?

Pondering: Further new and exciting career opportunities.

Considering: The limitations on the above career opportunities and the reality of change.

Watching: Position open for decent TV viewing - apply here.

Hoping: Miss Ten will have a brilliant year ahead, forming new and rewarding friendships.

Marvelling: The mutual love fest between Miss Ten and Miss Five. Having no siblings myself, it's a wondrous thing to watch.

Needing: A workspace of my own. Alas, not gunna happen unless one of the kids moves out. Hmm..

Smelling: Too much french cheese. Time to clean out the post-holiday fridge.

Wearing: Colour where possible and not too much of my signature black.

Following: @thedesignfiles.  Lucy -  be my friend!

Noticing: Our old dog Honey getting older.

Knowing: That Honey's time with us will inevitably end soon and it will be tough on the girls.

Thinking: All. The. Time. The overthinking continues.

Feeling: Excited about the new year and yet a little empty as I remember a treasured friendship from this time last year.

Admiring: Anyone weaving their way through a cancer journey.
The term 'courageous' doesn't even come close.

Sorting: School book and book covers. I'll be damned if I'm going to
contact every book this year!

Buying: Working up to a new bathing suit. Urgh. Those mirrors.

Getting: Up later than on a school day. Bonus!

Bookmarking: Lots of blog-related articles on moving from Blogger to WP.

Disliking: The idea of doing the above.

Opening: A fully stocked pantry in the morning, only to find it completely empty by the afternoon...?! What? How?

Giggling: A little infrequently currently, but recognising its importance in 2014.

Here's the list via Styling You's post. Try it for yourself.

    1. Thanks for the feedback. Pinky Poinker. Sadly, the Captcha is controlled by Blogger but I'm going to remove it for a while and see what happens (living on the edge!).
